The Vice President for Business Affairs is the chief business officer of the University of Texas at San Antonio. The UTSA Office of the Vice President for Business Affairs was established in 1974, formerly titled the Office of the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs. The first Vice President for Business Affairs was Everitt M. Mahon. According to the UTSA Handbook of Operating Procedures, the VPBA provides the President with advice and counsel on fiscal affairs and has direct responsibility for the business operations of the university including facilities maintenance, operations, and capital construction, accounting, disbursements, bursar operations, budgeting, payroll, human resource management and development, security and emergency preparedness, environmental health and safety, business contracts processing, procurement, and business auxiliary services. This collection spans the years 1990 through 2008 and includes preparatory and supporting materials for University of Texas Board of Regents meetings, and planning documents for the construction of the student dormitory, University Heights, UTSA Sports Complex, and assorted aerial photographs of the university's 1604 Campus. The collection includes correspondence, agenda items, dockets, budget request forms, reporting packages, and oversized maps and architectural drawings.
